Paul Callum is Director of Structures at Bligh Tanner Pty Ltd. His expertise spans structural planning and design of architectural, industrial and heritage buildings, landscape and art structures, community infrastructure and bridges. Paul’s 30 years of experience has seen him travel widely in the Asia Pacific Region working on major projects. Over this time, Paul has developed an exceptional level of understanding of structural function and forensics, and has become an in-demand, independent advisor. In particular, Paul’s respect for ‘architectural intent’, imaginative design, quality materials and clear communication has positioned him as an expert in heritage projects and large-scale public art installations.
Most recently, Paul travelled to Myanmar and Kashmir to advise on the adaptive re-use and retention of world recognised heritage structures. He recently led the Bligh Tanner structural team on the $110M Carrara Commonwealth Games Sports Hall. Paul was also instrumental in developing the adopted construction approach. In addition to many major art installations at Brisbane’s Gallery of Modern Art, Paul was responsible for the national award winning Tree of Knowledge Installation at Barcaldine and recent $150M Greenslopes Private Hospital Extensions.
Paul is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers, Australia, and studied engineering at The University of Queensland.
