The above-ground routing of the Busway in front of the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital challenged the Northern Busway Alliance to create a new station as well as improve the entrance and public access to the hospital.
The elevated busway also provided space underneath for a major new cycle centre, similar in operation to the King George Square facility.
Bligh Tanner sub-consulted to Northern Busway Alliance partner, SMEC, to undertake the structural design of the architectural and landscape components of the RBWH station and cycle centre.
