Taking Brisbane by Storm
Brisbane is set to benefit during the storm season with the new City Plan to improve stormwater management in urban developments.
Bligh Tanner has helped Brisbane City Council (BCC) reform the stormwater quality aspects of the City Plan that will ensure more liveable, water sensitive developments for Brisbane.
The new approach, led by Bligh Tanner, with the support of BMT WBM, Meter and Buckley Vann, encourages integrated design and greatly simplifies the level of reporting required in development applications, saving time and money for both council and developers.
“We worked closely with BCC’s Development Assessment team to understand their issues and concerns which informed the new design and reporting approaches for stormwater management,” said Alan Hoban, Principal Environmental Engineer at Bligh Tanner.
“It will lead to more liveable communities, a healthier river and bay and a more sustainable use of water. The policy also makes it easier for people to incorporate rain gardens, green roofs and other sustainable features in their developments.”
