Revisiting Small Creek
Returning nature to urban areas.
Several years ago, Bligh Tanner and Landscapology worked with Ipswich City Council to develop the plans to naturalise Small Creek. The goal was to turn a degraded concrete channel into a community destination featuring a new thriving waterway.
Four years on, we’re proud to show you how it’s going.
The site has harmonises nature with the needs of an urban community. It cleanses water and provides habitat for wildlife, as well creating as better community connections and opportunities to interact with nature. Monitoring shows native fish and creek critters have already colonised the site, as has a big kangaroo.
The project has since inspired several other waterway naturalisation projects that we look forward to sharing with you soon. Small Creek also announced at the AILA as the winner for: Excellence in Land Management.
