The Citizens Gateway to the Great Barrier Reef sculpture
The Citizens Gateway to the Great Barrier Reef sculpture was recently unveiled on the Cairns Esplanade. The design by Indigenous artist Brian Robinson represents a wave of sea creatures led by a life-size stingray. The 6.5m intricately detailed artwork is part of a social movement to engage the world in the future of the Great Barrier Reef. The intention is to inspire passerby’s who will see their reflection in the mirror-polish stainless steel and consider their connection to the Great Barrier Reef.
