  • Master Plan aims to reduce the demand for drinking water by nearly 85%, using rainwater, recycled water and water conservation to supply the community's initiatives.
  • Reductions in wastewater flows achieved using reduced infiltration gravity sewers (RIGS).
  • Water-sensitive urban stormwater design minimises runoff rates and improves runoff quality into local waterways.
  • Bligh Tanner Director, David Hamlyn-Harris, was Principal Consultant to the Pimpama Coomera Waterfuture team.

  • Winner - Building of the Year and Water Efficient House of the Year, Housing Industry Association GreenSmart Awards 2006
  • Water management choices included rainwater capture, greywater and stormwater reuse, water-use monitors.
  • Sustainable materials choices included recycled materials, low toxicity materials and renewable materials.
  • The design worked with the natural contours and around existing trees to maintain biodiversity and retain local vegetation.
  • Minimal waste and transport costs reduced the embodied energy of construction materials

Location: Clayfield, Brisbane

  • The first BERS 5-star energy efficient eco-apartments in Brisbane
  • BT was responsible for structural, civil and water engineering
  • Features natural light and ventilation, and efficient water and energy use, including solar power and ‘living walls’.
  • All finishes and materials are sustainably produced and have low toxicity.
  • Rainwater tanks provide more than half the water needs of the complex.
