Sean Hinton is Senior Scientist for Bligh Tanner Pty Ltd in Brisbane. He has more than 10 years’ experience in the water sector, working across a variety of roles with a focus on water quality management. Sean utilises his scientific background to understand clients’ problems and to develop solutions. Coupled with his excellent interpersonal skills, Sean engages with operators and managers alike to ensure the effective implementation of projects. In recent years, Sean has managed several practical water quality improvement projects, such as disinfectant changes, dosing system commissioning and water mains cleaning programs, all of which required close collaboration with operational staff.
As one of only a handful of Exemplar Global qualified water quality management systems auditors in Queensland, Sean was engaged by Mount Isa City Council to undertake their Drinking Water Quality Management Plan Audit. Sean’s expertise assisted Mount Isa to make immediate improvements to their water operations, and allowed them to meet their obligations under the legislation. Similarly, Southern Downs Regional Council engaged Sean to facilitate a comprehensive review of their drinking water systems, and he lead a two-day workshop with a team of Water Treatment Operators, Technical Officers and Management staff to identify and assess the water quality hazards and control measures within each water supply system. As a result of this project, Sean how now been engaged to re-write the Council’s Drinking Water Quality Management Plan.
