Kate Heliotis is a Structural Engineer at Bligh Tanner in Brisbane. Kate graduated from the University of Queensland in 2016 having won the prestigious Hawken Memorial award, UQ’s highest honour for an engineering undergraduate, and the Kenneth A. Thiess Prize for excellence within the School of Civil Engineering. She started with Bligh Tanner as a work experience student and contributed to a diverse range of projects across both the civil and structural fields. Through her project experience and ongoing commitment to technical and professional development, Kate has developed a passion for conscientious design and construction. She aims to provide excellence in her engineering work.
With a career that started in administrative work, both on projects in Australia and in Canada, Kate has excellent project management abilities and is efficient and diligent in her technical engineering role. She has a diverse appreciation of structural engineering applications and takes great pleasure working on projects involving water infrastructure, multifaceted building design, complex sculptures, community focused development, and heritage conservation. Kate aims to bring holistic and innovative design solutions to all project applications.
Kate’s previous experience was diversified across environmental and civil, and she has now moved into a specialised structural engineering role with Bligh Tanner.
